I view it as half empty because there is always room for more. There is always a possibility of improvement. A positive attitude is a good thing, but since it often leads to a laid back attitude, it cannot be applied to every walk of life.

I would choose a butterfly because I love nature. The pain and hard work that it goes through to become a butterfly is not a cake walk and that shows that if there is “no pain, no gain”.

The biggest challenge is not knowing the details that lead to making assumptions. This means that the askers get inaccurate or wrong advice and information.

My hobbies include blogging, coin collections, philately, painting, and reading.

Right now, I am most passionate to start something of my own, online, and to do this for a living.

I am from Singapore. It is special because it is a tiny red dot on the world map. Singapore is only approximately 40 km in length, yet we have achieved much as a young Asian nation. It is also a very multilingual, multicultural and cosmopolitan society.

I was looking for some information and I decided to sign up after landing on the site. A lot of search results from Google direct you to Answers.com.

What life accomplishments are you proud of?

Apart from academic achievements, I would say that I’m proud of having been to a number of countries at my age. My family enjoys traveling. I’ve been to Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau, China, South Korea and Thailand. I have a coin album with a collection of coins from these countries.

I’m proud to have become a Floating Supervisor just 10 days after opening my account. I graduated from the Mentoring Program with C.Hainsaw as my mentor. Also, with some luck, I managed to grab a runner up place in the Leap to Win AnswerThon contest.

What is the craziest thing that has ever happened to you?

Quite a number of years back, I was knocked down by a car while chasing after someone across the car park. I didn’t see the car approaching because I came from in between the parking lots where my view was blocked. When it came, I  jumped up onto the front of the car and luckily I was fine (what a sigh of relief) because the car wasn’t traveling that fast, albeit fast enough to knock me to the ground.

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?

1. To find and realize my dreams.

2. To always be healthy.

3. For the world to be a better place for all to live in.

I see it as half empty because I’m still young with lots to accomplish. Hopefully, I can secure a bright future and excel in my passion, whatever it may be.

That would probably be responding (or attempting to respond) to questions which are poorly structured or too vague to be answered. You get that feeling when you want to help answer the question but you can’t.

What are your special interests, hobbies, or collections?

I like aviation, magic and reading up about the solar system.  I also wish that I could play the piano like some prodigy.

What are you most passionate about in your life?

Ambitions. My first ambition was to be a bus driver because I thought it was fun to drive around with the big steering wheel to pick people up. Then I wanted to be a pilot. Now I might consider being an engineer.

Who or what is your inspiration in life?

I don’t have a single source of inspiration. Perhaps it is successful businessmen like the late Steve Jobs who built large businesses and did great things, or maybe Justin Bieber who suddenly became a successful artist and now lives his dream. Most likely it’s a bit of everything.

Where is one place in the world you would love to visit and why?

I would love to visit the United States, perhaps due to influences like American films and TV shows. Actually, I would like to experience living in America to see the four seasons, to go to supermarkets with lots of American products, to live in a country where there are so many celebrities, and so on. It would be great for me to appreciate the differences in the cultures and lifestyles of westerners, not to mention the beautiful sights and great food that are available there!

What is one quirky or interesting random fact about you that most people may not know?

I can watch my favorite movie scene from Bruce Almighty over and over again and still find it amusing and hilarious. And yes it still is! Sometimes it evens plays in my head!

My username is Dlhalper. It is my first two initials, and my last name. It is short for Donna Lee Halper. I wanted to capitalize my initials, but they ended up lowercase. I decided to just leave them that way.

Where in the world do you hail from and what makes this place special?

I come from the greater Boston area. I love Boston. We have lots of amazing historical places, awesome libraries and museums, and excellent ice cream. These days, I live in Quincy which is seven miles south of Boston and the birthplace of two U.S. presidents.

How did you discover Answers.com?

Around 2006, I was searching for something online (I truly do not recall what), but the search led me to an incorrect answer that I found on Answers.com. I wondered how to correct it, and gradually began doing more corrections as my schedule permitted. At the time, I was busy studying for my PhD. Once I finished my degree, I had more time to answer and correct more questions.

What enticed you to join our community?

I come from a media background, working first as a radio announcer, journalist, and researcher, and later as a media historian, author, and professor. Since I used to do a lot of proof-reading and fact-checking, whenever I see incorrect information online, I find myself wanting to fix it!  Now that I am a full-time professor, it is even more irritating because I know how many students “google” something and cite it without checking if the source is accurate. For students, getting to an answer first often takes precedence over getting that answer right. As I became more familiar with how to get the best results from online research, I decided that I might be able to contribute something to Answers.com.

What is your favorite thing to do on Answers.com?

There are two things I really enjoy. One is correcting wrong answers—not because I am some know-it-all, but because when I can fix an answer, I feel I am contributing to Answers.com’s reputation for accuracy. I also enjoy some of the advice questions, like those from kids who want to meet Justin Bieber, or who wish they could get some girl or guy to like them. We were all young once and we all had crushes on some celebrity. It is nice that kids feel they can come to us with their questions and get taken seriously. Services like Answers.com did not exist when I was growing up, and in a very impersonal society, a friendly and accurate answer can really make a difference for someone.

If you were inviting someone to join Answers.com, what reason(s) would you give them to become a part of our community?

It’s fun! It’s also challenging or at times even frustrating, but more often than not, it’s fun and very gratifying, especially when you finally track down an answer that was difficult to find. You can answer as many or as few questions as you’d like, and not only can you focus on what you know, but you can also learn something new in the process. Answers.com lets you help other people, and you can do it from the comfort of your home, your laptop, smartphone or whatever device you choose. I definitely recommend it.

What do you find most challenging as an Answers.com Supervisor?

Being patient. Some of the answers are sarcastic or rude or the person who answered obviously thought that he or she was being clever. I try to be tactful and remind myself that some of the people doing this are kids and yelling at them won’t teach them to do it the right way.

What life accomplishments are you proud of?

When I was a kid, options for women were still limited, and I was told by many people that I’d never be anything in life. As it turns out, I was the first female DJ at Northeastern University in Boston, and one of the first women hired everywhere I worked during my radio career. While in radio, I discovered the rock group Rush (they later dedicated two albums to me). I am the author of five books and many articles. I got my PhD at the age of 64. I am a big sister and I just celebrated my 25^th wedding anniversary!

What is your favorite type of music?  What is your favorite band or artist?

I am a rock and roll fan.  I love classic rock because I used to play it on the radio, but I also love some of the current music. I enjoy folk, jazz, and even some country. Obviously, since the members of Rush are my friends, they are my favorite band, but I also appreciate a wide range of artists having been a DJ and a music director. I am more song oriented than artist oriented. If a song has excellent lyrics, that’s a big plus. Pop music is still the soundtrack of my life.

Two songs have special meaning for me:  “Baker Street” by Gerry Rafferty, and “Working Man” by Rush.

I collect stamps, as well as old books, magazines, postcards, and memorabilia that pertain to the history of broadcasting. I love to read – both online and in hard copy – and I love good conversation. I am also always on the lookout for new places to find home-made ice cream!

Where is one place in the world you would love to visit and why?

I would like to visit the Congo where I am supporting an adorable 9 year old whom I’ve been sending to private school since she was 5. Few girls in the Congo are able to get a good education, and when I read about how her family really wished she could be educated, I offered to help. The family and I have been friends ever since. It would be fun to finally meet all of them.

I currently live in West Virginia. It is special because I have spent most of my life here with my family. I have moved a bunch in the past, but West Virginia is my home.

First off, I would tell them that it is unlike any other site. You are part of a family on Answers.com, and that family becomes really close to you as you spend more time on the site. What life accomplishments are you proud of?

I am proud that my piano teacher named me the most advanced student. I now feel that I am holding the torch for other students and it has truly been a humbling experience for me. I played “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” at Christmas last year, and it inspired all the kids to keep up with their piano playing. I was born in Yue-Yang, Hunan, China. My Chinese name is Yue-tzi Ting and my Chinese nickname is Ting-ting. Everything is pronounced just like it sounds.

What is your occupation: I am currently a student, hoping to become a journalist.

What is your Answers.com username and how did it come about?

My username (Tom Bomb) is a nickname at school. I made it myself years ago, just because Tom rhymes with ‘Bomb’. Simple, but effective!! And no, I’m not some sort of terrorist!

Where in the world do you hail from and what makes this place special?

I live in the north-west of England. England is special to me because it is one of those places in the world that doesn’t look big on the outside, but is huge on the inside. I am proud of the English culture, traditions, religion, and language.

How did you discover Answers.com?

For years now, I have been using Answers.com for research; help with my homework, and to find out interesting facts. I knew the site long before I joined it.

What enticed you to join our community?

A friend at school always wanted me to join Answers.com, but I wasn’t too sure. To be perfectly honest, at the time, I didn’t see the point of joining a site where people asked and answered questions. After many months of nagging, I finally signed up under the username ‘Tom Bomb’ and was addicted to the site instantly. I absolutely love the community on Answers.com, and the site is so much more than I initially thought. I would like to thank my friend at school so much for enticing me to join. It has been the best experience ever.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

I would probably want to be an eagle. I have always wanted to fly and see what our planet looked liked from the sky. It would be pretty awesome to be at the top of the bird food chain and be able to hunt for your own food while flying at well over 100mph.

What is your favorite thing to do on Answers.com?

I’ve actually have two favorite things to do on Answers.com. They are to recategorize and to help new contributors around the site.

If you were inviting someone to join Answers.com, what reason(s) would you give them to become a part of our community?

1. Answers.com is a great site for looking up answers and doing bits of research here and there. It can come in handy if you need an urgent answer for a project, plus if there isn’t an answer already there, I guarantee your question will get answered in only a short space of time.

2. There is such a friendly community across the site, and with over 7 million contributors, you will make some great Wikifriends (a word I made up) along the way who will always be there for you if you need some advice or help.

3. At first you may not be sure whether you want to join or not, but trust me, you will never regret it. Answers.com is the best website on the internet.

What accomplishments on Answers.com are you proud of?

I am proud of:

1. Making over 10,000 contributions including edits, categorizing, splits, asking questions, answering questions, and more.

2. Being a Special Project Assistant and Wiki Influential Teen Explorer, as I work to improve the quality of the site.

3. Being a Wiki Guide. I love to do my bit and put smiles on people’s faces across the WikiCommunity (another word I made up).

What is the craziest thing that has ever happened to you?

This is a tricky question because lots of crazy things have happened in my life so far. It’s probably falling off a ski lift just as it was entering the station. This was during a school trip, and I’m still annoyed at the man controlling the lift because he didn’t bother to come and see if I was alright, plus, he didn’t even stop the lift! Another person before me also fell off.

What is your favorite type of music?  What is your favorite band or artist?

I like lots of different types of music. I love listening to music from other continents such as Africa or Asia, and I like the diversity that other countries have to offer. For example, where we might use a guitar in the UK, India might use a sitar.

What makes you unique?

I have a very distinctive laugh that consists of one big, HA!

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?

In order of importance:

1. Ending global poverty, corruption, and wars.

2. Allowing money to grow on trees.

3. Becoming a category supervisor on Answers.com!! (Really this would be my personal most important wish, but it would be disrespectful for everything else that is going on in the world).

What do you find most challenging as an Answers.com contributor?

This is another tricky question. I would have to say one of the most challenging things on Answers.com is removing those annoying spaces that appear after editing your profile.

What are your special interests, hobbies, or collections?

I am a huge fan of playing badminton, browsing Answers.com, swimming, having lengthy debates at school that lead to nowhere, watching videos of emergency vehicles, and collecting gems/crystals.

Who or what is your inspiration in life?

My family and friends are the biggest inspirations in my life.

Where is one place in the world you would love to visit and why?

It has to be America!! I’ve always wanted to visit Times Square, to see the hustle and bustle of oncoming yellow taxis and emergency vehicles, and to see the lush jungles and beaches that America has to offer.
